Ishara Mudugamuwa
Sri Lanka's Information and Communication sector is blessed to have a
talented pool of young professionals who have a positive attitude and
are dedicated, State Management and Reforms Minister Navin Dissanayake
said.
The minister made this observation while participating as the Chief
Guest at the inauguration of Future Gov SAARC Summit in Colombo.
“We are encouraged by the talented pool of young professionals in the
field of Information and Communication Technology. The government can
easily achieve the target of making Sri Lanka the Knowledge hub in South
East Asia by investing more on this talented pool,” the minister said.
He said though there is a big demand for skilled young professionals in
private sector institutions in the field of Information and
Communication Technology, a large number of talented professionals work
at public sector institutions.
“We should encourage them and get the maximum use of their knowledge
for the development of this sector,” Dissanayake said. “The private
sector keeps on changing depending on profits. Changes should also occur
in the public sector,” he said.
The government web portal ‘The Smart Gateway to Government of Sri
Lanka,’ website (www.gov.lk) was also launched by Minister Dissanayake.
The summit is hosted by the Sri Lanka Telecom and the Information and
Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA). |
