Dialog records contribution for HelpAge

Sri Lanka's largest loyalty rewards network, Dialog PLC announced that a large number of customers in the country had contributed over Rs. Two million worth star points towards HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL) during the first five months of this year.

Dialog has so far provided Rs. 3. 7 million worth star points to HelpAge Sri Lanka with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding

(MOU) in December 2011. Chairman, Dialog Dr. Hans Wijesuriya and Chairman, Helpage Deshabandu Thilak De Zoysa signed the MoU on behalf of their organizations.

The money obtained from Dialog star points is being utilized to provide medical and eye care facilities for needy segment of Sri

Lankan elderly population over 60 years. All medical and eye care services including cataract operations are carried out by HelpAge free of charge.

HelpAge Sri Lanka is a non profit making charitable organization. It was established in 1986 by H. P. Gooneratne with the sole intention of providing social and medical facilities for needy Senior citizens in Sri Lanka. HelpAge Sri Lanka conducts 26 mobile medical clinics every month, covering almost all rural and remote villages throughout the island.

The medical clinics also provide the needy elders with eye screening services which facilitates to detect elders who are suffering from cataract. HASL, Executive Director Samantha Liyanawaduge said the money obtained from Dialog star points is utilized to perform cataract operations free of charge at the HelpAge 'free ' Eye Care Hospital, Wellawatta. In addition, needy elders are also provided with spectacles.

He said Dialog Star Points is a fully mobile network which enables its seven million customers to earn and spend Star points with 400 plus partner merchants and 20, 000 outlets island wide.

He also highlighted that the response received from Dialog customers so far has been excellent and thanked all customers who donate star points.

HelpAge also said the star points will expire at the end of June and therefore requested Dialog customers to donate their star points to HelpAge Sri Lanka before the end of June by simply dialing # 141 # and support this worthy cause.
