Kanitha and Ishani set up new records

Senanayake from Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya estbalished new meet
records as eight new meet records were established on day two of the
ongoing 40th Milo Sri Lanka Schools Swimming Championship at Sugathadasa
Indoor Stadium yesterday.
Munasinghe clocked 55.68 seconds in the boys’ under-19, 100 metres
Freestyle event to erase the previous record of 56.76 seconds set by
C.B.Wickramasinghe in 2007. Senanayake shattered the girls under-19 100
metres free style previous record of 1:07.47 secs established by
Musaeite Methma Jayawardena when she completed the event in 1:03.59secs.
The other new meet records established on day two are, Under-19 boys’
200m Individual Medley by Trinitian Shehan de Silva (2:24.30secs),
under-19 boys’100m Backstroke by Royalist Shehan Kaushalya (1:03.6secs)
and under 15 boys’100m Backstroke by Imesh Chathuranga of D.S.Senanayake
College (1:04.82secs).
Hiruni De Zoysa of Gateway College established two new meet records
in under-15 girls’ 200 metres Individual Medley (2:42.15secs) and
under-15 girls’ 100 metres Butterfly stroke (1:11.60secs). Machiko
Raheem from AIS set a new meet record in under-17 girls’ 100m Freestyle
by clocking 1:03.34secs.
