Work on Code of Media Ethics begins
The Mass Media and Information Ministry has begun the preliminary
work on preparing a Code of Media Ethics with the concurrence of all
stakeholders to realise the aim of establishing a more ethical and
advanced media culture as envisioned in the "Mahinda Chinthana"
programme.
As an initial step a draft prepared using details in the code of
media ethics adopted by local media, professional organisations and
related international experiences has been published in the Ministry's
official website www.media.gov.lk.
As the intention is to draw a Code of Ethics for Journalists, after
meticulously studying all proposals and views received from those keen
in this regard representing every section of society, the ministry
invites the public to send in their views, a communique issued by the
ministry said. |
