Nawaloka Hospital spreads peace message during Vesak

First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa at the event

Nawaloka Hospital once again spread a message of peace, kindness and caring through their Vesak celebrations held from May 23rd - 25th. Activities ranging from Bakthi Gee to a dinner 'dhansala' were held to mark the three most important milestones in the life of Lord Buddha.

This year however, the emphasis was on spreading this special message by using methods that are environment friendly and energy saving, thus setting a valuable example to the community.

The annual Vesak lantern competition which was conducted among the Nawaloka Hospital employees was a tremendous success once again. Presided over by First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa on May 23rd and His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa on May 24th, this competition truly showcased the creative talents of the participants.

The materials used to constuct the lanterns were mostly natural, ranging from jute and twigs to dried leaves, and attractive cash prizes were awarded to the winners.
