Indoor Mechanical Rowing is the latest sport included in the Defence
Services Sports Programme.
The third Sri Lanka Army Inter-regiment Indoor Mechanical Rowing
Tourney 2013 was held recently at the basketball indoor stadium of Sri
John Kotelawala Defence University.
14 regiments, Sri Lanka Army Academy and Kotelawala Defence
University took part at the tourney. Under nine Age Category 11 events
were included in the programme.

The overall
championship (Men) was secured by Sri Lanka
Army Police Services regiment. The shipper of the team
receives the championship cup from the Commanding Officer
of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Major Gen. Crishanta De
Silva. The Vice Chancellor of Kotelawala Defence University
Major Gen. Milinda Peris also present. |
The skipper

Womens’ Championship Cup from the Commanding Officer of
Sri Lanka Army volunteer force Major Crishantha de Silva The

Move than 400 sportsmen and sportswomen participated at the tourney.
The overall Men's Championship was won by Sri Lanka Army Police
Service Regiment with 5 golds, 6 Silver and 1 bronze medals.
The women's overall Championship was secured by Sri Lanka Army womens'
regiment.

The championship of the Open Challenge event was won by Mechanical
Intantary Regiment.
The 1st runner up was Kotelawala Defence University.
The chief guest of the Prize Presentation ceremony was the Commanding
Officer of Sri Lanka Army volunteer Force Major Gen. Crishanta de Silva.
The chairman of the Army Sports Committee Major Gen. Daya Ratnayake
and the Vice chancellor of Kotelawala Defence University Major Gen.
Milinda Peiris also graced the occasion. |
