Drugs hidden in rented house without occupants’ knowledge:

A notorious woman drug pedlar named Seethadevi was nabbed by Wellampitiya Police at Meethotumulla on June 13 while being in possession of 2,400 milligrams of heroin and Rs 62,500 derived from the sale of drugs following a tip-off.

Police said the woman who unusually operated her business in Grandpass, Borella, Orugodawatte and Kolonnawa areas was nabbed while she visited a house rented out by her to collect a consignment of drugs hidden there without the knowledge of the tenants.

She used to visit the house while the occupants were away and entered it using a duplicate key to collect the drugs from the hideout.

She is said to be the wife on an underworld character identified as Mahendra Indra who is now reported missing.

Investigations revealed that her proceeds from the sale of drugs amounted to nearly Rs 300,000 daily.

Investigations are continuing.
