Awareness programmes on environmental conservation, disaster
management

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) will launch awareness
programmes to educate people on environmental conservation and disaster
management, said SLRCS Deputy Director General Sudath Madugalle
addressing a media conference in Colombo.

He said the SLRCS will hold a seminar on Good Practices of Climate
Change Adaptation at the BMICH on June 17 and 18.
The step is taken as the next step to protect the public from
disasters, he said.
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement will provide
aid for the people who are affected by disasters in the world. The SLRCS
under the direction of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent
Movement provides other requirements as well, he said.
Preinforming, facing to disasters, providing aid and making people
aware of disasters are new programmes of the SLRCS, he said.
The SLRCS will lead and coordinate other organizations which are
providing aid in disasters. Changing climate is one of the biggest
problems in the world. It is an unavoidable threat to human development,
he said.

Deputy Director General Col.Sudath Madugalle, Delegate IFRC Dr.Bhanu
Prathap and Programme Officer Disaster Management Gothami Chandrarathna
