Bogus Forces personnel nabbed in abduction drama

The Police arrested six men posing as Security Forces' personnel for abducting a family of four in Manmoonai, Batticaloa on Wednesday.

The six males, claiming they were from the Security Forces, abducted the family of four which included the father, mother and two children from Thunmankerni. People in the area alerted the Army who informed the Police.

The Police stopped the white van with 10 passengers, six abductors and four victims, at Manoonai. The man in the front seat had claimed that they were going to an Army Camp in Akkaraipattu.

On further questioning, the six abductors confessed that they carried out the abduction due to a personal dispute.

Kattankuddi Police are investigating.
