Warning to fishermen

The Met Department yesterday requested fishermen to refrain from fishing in the sea off Mannar to Potuvil as rough winds over 60 kmph are expected in these areas.

The Department issuing the warning yesterday evening which would be effective for 24 hours, said strong winds are expected from Potuvil to Mannar via Galle and Colombo and the wind speed may exceed 60 kmph.

Meteorological Department sources said heavy showers accompanied by strong winds are expected in Southern, Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces today.
