Child Soldiers: Sri Lanka no longer in UN annual report
Sri Lanka has been taken off from the UN Secretary General's annual
report on children in armed conflict, the UN announced.
"Sri Lanka is no longer included following the delisting of all
parties within their territories in 2012," the report released on
Wednesday in New York stated.
It said: "During the previous reporting period, all parties in Nepal
and Sri Lanka were delisted after full implementation of their action
plans. In 2012, no further violations were recorded by any party in
those country situations."
The UN Working Group in December, 2012 adopted the "Draft conclusions
on the situation of children and armed conflict in Sri Lanka" thereby
closing the dossier on Sri Lanka in the Security Council.
