Adverse weather:

N' Eliya, Hatton schools closed

Schools in the Nuwara Eliya and Hatton Educational Zones will be closed today owing to the adverse weather situation. According to Nuwara Eliya District Secretary DPG Kumarasiri, schools in the Nuwara Eliya and Hatton Educational Zones will be kept closed today on the instructions of Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake.

He said that many areas in the district are declared to have face landslide threat due to incessant rain experienced in the district during the last few days.

Meanwhile, the Central Province Chief Minister said that the Nuwara Eliya district was experiencing strong winds with heavy rains and it was decided to close schools in these two zones for a few days giving priority to the safety of students.
