The ceremonial passing out parade of a batch of 385 male and female
soldiers of the Civil Defence Force was held at the Advanced Training
School in Galkiriyagama on Thursday.

Three hundred eighty five male and female soldiers representing
Welioya, Ampara, Vavuniya and Vennawatta Force Headquarters and
Mihintalaya Advanced Training School who completed their basic and
special trainings passed out in a colourful parade. Education Services
Minister Duminda Dissanayake who was the Chief Guest, took the salute
after inspecting the Parade.
CSD Director General Rear Admiral Ananda Peiris said the CSD has
assisted a number of projects in the fields of development, economy,
politics, education and culture around the country with tangible
results.
The service of the CSD, during the humanitarian operations and in the
post war development of the country is both valuable and commendable, he
said.
Rear Admiral Peiris said at the recent humanitarian victory parade,
President Mahinda Rajapaksa admired the skills and performances
displayed by the CSD which is always on a strong foundation to provide
manpower for any nationally important task.
“Duty is of utmost importance to a career CSD solider,” the Director
General said.
“All trained CSD soldiers should be disciplined, methodical,
knowledgeable and ready to serve the country,” he said.
Senior CSD officers, parents and well-wishers were also present.
