Special Segolela brace as South Africa win
Tlou Segolela scored his first international goals as South Africa
warmed up for World Cup qualifiers with a 2-0 friendly win over Lesotho
Sunday.
The diminutive wide midfielder took advantage of a rare national team
outing to score in first-half stoppage time and on the hour mark.
There were suspicions of offside for the first as he tapped in a
cross from fellow midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala at cold, windy Setsoto
Stadium.
And the second goal arrived gift wrapped from Lesotho goalkeeper
Kholuoe Phasumane, who dropped a harmless cross at the feet of Segolela.
The Orlando Pirates flier took full advantage by beating one defender
and firing a left-foot shot past the netminder.
Urged on by a capacity 20,000 crowd that included King Letsie III,
Lesotho finished strongly and were deprived twice by the woodwork.
South Africa are away to the Central African Republic on June 8 and
leaders Ethiopia on June 16 in crucial Group A fixtures.
