SLFP Womens’ Organization in membership drive

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Women's Organization will commence a membership drive from June 2 to 9 to increase its membership. This will also help strengthen and protect the government and people, Power and Energy Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said.

She made this observation at a meeting of the SLFP Women's Organization held at the New Town Hall Colombo recently.

Minister Wanniarachchi said women and the common man have always benefited under the SLFP governments.

“The Mahinda Chintanaya programme was formulated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in keeping with the country's present and future needs, based on S W R D Bandaranaike vision and policies. The country is making vast strides under the Mahinda Chintanaya vision,” she said.

She also said that the factories set up by the SLFP governments with the support of countries like China and Korea were sold by the UNP governments.

“However, the government has begun to develop the village to provide relief to the common people,” she said. “The President has entrusted me with the responsibility of providing electricity to every household by 2015,” the Minister said.
