Kia Motors invests Rs 600 mn in new logistic centre in Malabe

Kia Motors (Lanka)Limited plans to invest Rs 600 million in a fully
fledged logistic centre in a three and a half acre land in Malabe.

This would house a showroom, a fully equipped vehicle care centre and
a centralized stores which would also house the vehicles cleared from
the harbour for PDI, polishing and delivering to the showrooms, said
Andrew perera, Chief Operating Officer, Kia Motors (Lanka)Limited at a
gala get-together held in Colombo to celebrate the Distributor of
Distinction award won recently by Kia's sole distributor in Sri Lanka,
Kia Motors(Lanka)Limited.
He said the facility would be located in a strategic point at Malabe
on the main road which would be an exit point to the highway. He said
the Sorento has been the best selling model of theirs and it had already
sold over 3,000 units over the last few years and had planned to sell at
least a 1,000 vehicles this year.
He said on a monthly basis they sell around 60-70 units and use the
Ruhunu Magampura Mahinda Rajapaksa Port as their port of import. He said
they had entrusted their clearing agents the task and received a smooth
delivery to the showrooms. He said the new Sorento introduced had 10 new
options and a facelift.
He also disclosed that they intent to open their first franchise
operation in a one and a half acre land on the Colombo Kurunegala main
road in Kurunegala, which is a Rs 70 million investment.
That would also include a service centre and showroom. He said they
hope to finish both these projects by the first quarter of 2014. |
