President pays last respects to Dr Jayalath Jayawardena

President Mahinda Rajapaksa paid his last respects to Gampaha district UNP MP Dr Jayalath Jayawardena at his Ja-Ela residence yesterday. Dr Jayawardena who was the Deputy Secretary of the UNP, passed away at a hospital in Singapore on Thursday after a brief illness, according to sources. Dr Jayawardena,59, a medical doctor by profession was elected to Parliament from the UNP in 1994.

He was the Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Refugees Minister from 2002 to 2004.
