strengthen the historical relationship between Sri Lanka and China
during his recent visit to China.
"China has been a sincere friend of Sri Lanka as seen in the recent
history of our country and appeared more prominently in our post war
development efforts.
The relationship between the two countries has grown as never seen
before during the Presidency of HE the Mahinda Rajapaksa. "As friends of
China we are elated that the Chinese government under the new leadership
of President XI Ji Ping has offered Sri Lanka 2.2 billion US$ for our

forerunner in assisting our nation building process.
"During the recent visit of the President Mahinada Rajapakse, two
countries have agreed on US$ 1.5 billion in private sector investment in
the Northern express highway which links the country's South and North.
"As President Rajapakse has declared "the peaceful economic rise of
China during the last three decades is a matter of great pride and
satisfaction for all of us in the region".
"The SLCFA also wish to express its sincere gratitude to President Xi
Ji Ping and the government of Republic of China for further
consolidating the friendship between the two countries and hoisting it
to a new level of strategic corporation".
