HSC clinch Fr. E J Hebert Memorial Basketball Championship

The Rev Fr E J Hebet Memorial Basketball championship, conducted by St Micheal's College, Batticaloa Alumni Association of Colombo and Batticaloa in association with the Batticaloa district basketball association under the guidance of the Sri Lanka Basketball Federation was worked out from at the St Micheal's College Basketball Courts, Batticaloa recently.

The highlight performance at the tournament was witnessed by the HSC Basketball team which eventually emerged as the champions beating the Sri Lanka Air Force Basketball team in a nail biting thriller. The final scores showed as 63-62 as the HSC Basketball team which fielded a young team mostly consisting of school leavers produced the shock of the tournament as other leading Basketball playing clubs also competed in the tournament. During the break the young guns of the HSC Basketball team lead the Airmen by 39 points - 26 points.

The tournament was followed by a large amount of spectators as Batticaloa could be considered as the next main city after Colombo for have a rich culture in Basketball.
