Diyawara Gammana project to be re-launched

All arrangements are in place to re-launch the Diyawara Gammana
housing project to facilitate the fishing community, Fisheries and
Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne said.
He said the first step of the re-launch is to commence in Beruwala in
line with the project launched to modernise the Beruwela City as a
tourism zone.
"The Diyawara Gammana housing project for the fishing community was
commenced by President Mahinda Rajapaksa when he was the Fisheries and
Aquatic Resources Development Minister. We hope to re-launch this
project and grant a well completed home for all fishermen in the
country," he said.
The minister was addressing a special meeting which was also attended
by MP Namal Rajapaksa at the ministry.
Representatives from the Urban Development Authority (UDA), Housing
Development Authority (HDA), Board of Investment (BOI), Beruwela
Municipal Council and Beruwela Divisional Secretariat were also present
at the meeting .
They also discussed the new town plan, tourism zone project and the
Marina project to be launched in the Beruwela city.
Discussions were also held about the public housing scheme project to
be launched in Beruwela and the Diyawara Gammana housing scheme project
to be relaunched islandwide.
Addressing the gathering Hambantota district MP Namal Rajapaksa said
a large number local and foreign investors are looking forward to invest
in Beruwela city with the beginning of these new development projects.
Arrangements should be made to provide assistance and facilities to
them promptly, he said.
Minister Senaratne said arrangements are in place to establish a new
dockyard, super shopping complex and office complex for government
offices under the Beruwela City Modernisation project. |
