NWP athletes felicitated

Ariyapala Wansathilake - Kurunegala Central Special

NWP Athletic Champions who won gold, Silver and Bronze Medals at the Sugathadasa Stadium were felicitated by the Wayamba PC Complex under the Patronage of NWP Governor Tissa R Balalle recently.

Fourteen Sportsmen and women were felicitated by Provincial Sports Minister Asoka Wadigamangawa.

The best Gold Medal winner Janaki Chathurangani de Silva awarded cash prize Rs 50,000.

The other Gold Medal winners were awarded cash prize Rs 30,000 (each) while the Silver Medallists were awarded Rs 25,000 and the Bronze Medallists Rs 10,000 each.

M 800 metres Woman – P Maduwanthi

M 800 metres men – Supunsara Ekanayake

Provincial Sports Director W Sarath de Silva said a sum of Rs 1.8 million was allocated by the Ministry of Sports Wayamba Provincial Council for this purpose.
