Shocking fine on power pirate

A power pirate found guilty of tapping power by manipulating the
electricity metre, was fined Rs 176,771 by Angunakolapelessa Magistrate
Pasan Amarasena.
This amount was made up of Rs 10,000 as court fine and Rs 166,771 as
compensation due to the Ceylon Electricity Board against the loss of
income.
CEB sleuths said the accused, a resident of Pallegama, Hungama, had
been involved in this power related crime for a long period.
Officials attached to Colombo Special Investigation Bureau of the CEB
and the Hungama Police conducted the raid. |
