HelpAge Bakthi Gee

HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL) will conduct a Vesak Bakthi Gee programme at H.P. Gooneratne Helpage Elders' Day Centre at No. 24, Sri Dharmarama Mawatha, Borupana, Ratmalana on May 28 at 2 pm.

The objective of conducting the Bakthi Gee (Devotional Songs) programme is to encourage elders over 60 years to take part in religious activities. At least 30 male and female elders will sing Vesak Bakthi Gee.

HASL also conducts various other welfare programmes, including, free cataract surgeries to uplift the living conditions of Senior Citizens.

HASL Executive Director Samantha Liyanawaduge said about 25 percent of elders suffer from blindness due to cataract and this situation prompted the HASL to perform 15 cataract surgeries daily on weekdays for needy Senior Citizens free of charge at the HASL, Eye Care Centre, Wellawatte.

HASL has also printed Vesak greeting cards to collect funds for cataract surgeries. The cards are available at leading bookshops. Please contact 0112803752/54 or 0114926948 for further details.
