Plans underway to initiate Ruhunu Cultural Triangle

The National Heritage Ministry will introduce the Ruhunu Cultural Ministry to promote the Ruhunu Cultural Triangle centering Hambantota and Tissamaharamaya and plans have already been made towards this, National Heritage Minister Dr. Jagath Balasooriya said.

Galle, Matara and Moneragala districts will be included in the Ruhunu Cultural Triangle according to the plan, he said.

The aim of the proposed triangle was to protect the places of cultural and historical value. In addition the ministry will prepare and publish a book consisting of important information of those places.

The Central Cultural Fund and Archaeological Department will support this and the Cultural Affairs Ministry will provide funds for the programme which is to be implemented this year.
