Keith Williams, Chief Executive Officer, British Airways, recently visited Sri Lanka to announce the return of British Airways to the island. During his visit, Williams was extremely impressed by the natural beauty of Sri Lanka as he immersed himself in experiencing rich culture and heritage of the picturesque island. One of his favorite places during the tour included the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. In the picture Keith Williams, Chief Executive Officer, British Airways and Captain Kiran Mediwaka at Sigiriya Fortress during their recent visit to Sri Lanka British Airways’ B777-200 aircraft is now operating three times a week between Colombo and London Gatwick via Male.

 



 


The Presidend and the Governing Council of Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka in appreciation of invaluable Service as a CMA Founder Governing Council member late T. P. Gunawardena (BA, FCA, FCMA, FSCMA) was felicitated at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. Felicitation was received by his son Chandima Gunawardena, BSC (Financial Management), MSC (Financial Accounting), presently attached to Price Water House Coopers. Asoki Gunawardena wife of late T. P. Gunawardena also participated.

 


 


Innovative Vesak creation by Rainco : In commemorating Vesak this year, Rainco Umbrellas presented a Vesak lantern based on the 6th week of the Sath Sathiya, where the Muchalinda Cobra King provided protection from the rain to Lord Buddha during meditation. A concept developed and constructed by Triad (Pvt) Ltd was displayed at the Migadaye Vesak Kalapaya in Colombo 05. The creation attracted an enormous crowed that experienced a walk through to the lantern which was constructed to give the actual experience of the rain fall.

 


 


A Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, visited Ampara District recently and handed over two tractors to Pottuvil and Alayadivembu Predeshya Sabas for the smooth implemention of their ‘Solid Waste Management’ Programme at a simple ceremony held at SWM Centre at Ampara Buddhangala. Here, the EU Ambassador Bernard Savage handing over the keys to Alyadaivembu Predeshya Saba Chairman K. Ratnavale and Pottuvil Predeshya Saba Chairman M.S.M.
