Wijesinha new Chairman Watawala Plantations

Govindasamy Sathasivam who had been the Chairman of Watawala Plantations PLC since 1996, retired from the post of Chairmanship with effect from May 20, 2013. He will continue as a director of the company.

Sunil Gamini Wijesinha who is a director of the company succeeds G. Sathasivam for the post of Chairman of the company with effect from May 20, 2013. He has also been appointed to the remuneration committee of the company.

Sunil G. Wijesinha previously held the posts of Chairman and Managing Directorship of Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC and Managing Director of Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka PLC.

He also held the Chairmanship of the Employees' Trust Fund Board, Vice Chairmanship of Colombo Dockyard, Deputy Chairmanship of Sampath Bank and Chairmanship of Merchant Credit of Sri Lanka Ltd. In addition he has been on several Boards in the private and public sector including Sri Lankan Airlines Ltd. He was the former President of the Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA), President of the Sri Lanka Italy Business Council. He was the founder President of the Sri Lanka Ceramics Council and the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity.

He currently holds the directorship in Sampath Leasing and Factoring Ltd, Asiri Surgical Hospitals PLC, DFCC Vardhana Bank Ltd, and Chairmanship of DNH Financial (Pvt) Ltd. He is the Chairman of the Employers? Federation of Ceylon and is the President of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka.

Sunil G. Wijesinha is a qualified production engineer, and has an MBA from Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is a Fellow Member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK.
