Four year development plan for Akkaraipattu

The Akkaraipattu Municipal Council has launched a four year programme from 2013 to 2016 to develop the area, in collaboration with the Economic Development Ministry under the Pura Neguma special programme.

Akkaraipattu Municipality Mayor Athaulla Ahamed Zackie seeks assistance of the public and other organizations in the area in implementing the programme.

A total of 23 Grama Niladari Divisions fall within the jurisdiction of the Akkaraipattu Municipal Council.

Meetings are held in every GN division to get the opinion of the people in this regard. Emphasis is laid on the people’s participation.

A list of development projects are prepared and identified on a priority basis for implementation from this year. Work regarding renovation of all internal roads are given priority under this programme. The provision of electricity is also given priority. Cost estimates are being prepared for the extension of electricity to all GN Divisions by technical officers of the Ceylon Electricity Board.

People of Akkaraipattu have welcomed the proposal forwarded by Mayor Zackie and they thanked the Mayor for prompt action to develop their area.
