Work to begin on May 27 Rs 3,680 m for construction of two roads

Construction work of two main roads-Anamaduwa-Bangadeniya and
Deraniyagala-Dehiovita will commence spending over Rs 3,680 million on
May 27.
Ports and Highways Project Minister Nirmala Kothalawla said the
government has undertaken a massive road development programme to
renovate the existing road network to provide a better transportation.
Under this programme, a road from Anamaduwa to Bangadeniya will be
constructed at a cost of Rs 2,570 million while the construction work of
the road from Deraniyagala to Dehiovita will be commenced at a cost of
Rs 1,100 million.
Meanwhile, a new bridge constructed over Mahaweli river in Somawathi
area at a cost of Rs.400 million and newly constructed road from
Somawathi to Seruvila will be commissioned on May 25 under the patronage
of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
Construction work was carried out by the Road Development Authority.
The newly constructed road and the bridge will benefit the people
travelling to the sacred Somawathi Chethiya and Seruwavila Chethiya.
"Infrastructure, especially the road network, is key to development.
"We hope devotees travelling to both Somawathi Chethiya and
Seruwavila Chethiya will benefit through this road," he said.
Following the completion of the planned roads the rural farmers will
have easy access to the markets in towns while traders find business
much easier, Minister Kothalawala said.
