'NCC helps develop leadership skills'

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) helps the young generation develop
leadership skills and grow positive attitudes which would enable them to
lead a successful life, NCC Director Major General Gamini Jayasundara
said.
Major General Jayasundera was addressing the passing out parade of
the battalion assessment camp of 03rd and 19th NCC battalions at the NCC
parade grounds Rantebe recently.
Measures are taken to make the cadet training more effective and
successful under the guidance of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence
Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, he said.
The dedication of officers attached to the NCC and the assistance of
school Principals to make the NCC successful is highly appreciated, he
said.
Nalanda College, Colombo won the champions' trophy of the third
battalion while Price of Wales College, Moratuwa bagged the champions'
trophy of the 19th battalion.
Major General Jayasundara appreciating the support of Principals
distributed certificates to those who took part in the assessment camp.
Senior Officers attached to the combined forces and NCC, Principals,
staffs of schools and parents participated.
