Sri Lanka Basketball Federation under
the auspices of its President and Chief Minister of
the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake distributed basketball
equipment to schools in
the Central Province for the promotion and development of
the game in the Kandy district at a function held at St
Anthony’s Girls College courts in Kandy. In the picture

Mahamaya Girls’ College, Kandy kept
upto their reputation as the best swimmers in schools at
present when they bagged another championship title when
they became champions at the Junior National Short course
swimming championship organised by the Sri Lanka Aquatic
Sports Union held at D S Senanayake College swimming pool,
Colombo recently. The team was captained by Imani Abeykoon.

Sri Lanka Air Force won the Seetha
Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy inter-club hockey sevens for
the fifth year in a row. In the finals played at the
Asgiriya Stadium they beat Police Sports Club 1-0.

Nanayakkara brothers excel
in chess
Kulisa and Gajtha Nanayakkara of St Nicholas International
College, Negombo made International Schools Chess history
when the two brothers won silver (under 10) and
Bronze (under 12) medals respectively at the National Youth
Chess Championship 2013 held at Royal College, Colombo. Here
