Attacker caught by people

A youth who stabbed a mother and her teenaged daughter with a knife was caught by villagers in Digampathana and handed him over to the Sigiriya Police on Monday evening. He had been a close friend of the family. Investigations revealed that the suspect was hiding in the house of the victims and had committed the crime in the night when they were sleeping. The victims were rushed to Dambulla base hospital under a critical condition.

They are G. Bandaramenike, 52, and her daughter, Salani Prasadani Amarasingha, 17. Sigiriya Police are investigating.
