Ex-minister’s former Coordinating Secy turns swindler

A fraudster evading arrest on 10 court warrants issued against him
for defrauding unsuspecting job seekers for nearly Rs. 5 million
promising expatriate jobs in European Union countries, was arrested from
a hideout in Battaramulla by the Kandy Police Fraud Investigation Unit
on May 4.
The suspect who was a confidante of a parliamentarian who crossed
over to the UNP, had served as his Coordinating Secretary when he was a
former minister.
Nearly 10 youths in several areas including Kandy and Matale had
fallen prey to him and parted with money.
Investigations are continuing. |
