Forty two proposals to develop Ampara

Forty two proposals were discussed in detail at a special meeting held under the patronage of the Economic Development Ministry regarding the development of the Ampara district under the Pura Neguma development programme. Rs 450 million was estimated for the development projects. Open tenders will be called shortly to commence development work.

The meeting was held at Akkaraipattu Athaullah Auditorium.

Economic Development Ministry Project Director N. Uma, Eastern Province Deputy Director of ‘Pura Neguma’ N. Thamilchelvan, Engineer A. Gowrypalan, Ampara District Local Government Assistant Commissioner A. J. M. Irzad and Ampara District Procurement Assistant S. N. A. Ashraff attended the meeting. Proposals were submitted by Akkaraipattu and Kalmunai Municipal Councils, Ampara Urban Council and 17 Pradeshiya Sabhas including 20 local authorities in the Ampara District.

A three year plant is mapped out to develop the Northern and Eastern provinces.
