Innovative programmes have helped country’s progress - Minister

The government has introduced development programmes which have
helped the country progress, said Construction, Engineering Services,
Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa.
Participating at the launching ceremony of Siyane Nature Park housing
project, Minister Weerawansa said the government has paid special
attention to the various spheres of development which were long
neglected in the past.
The government also seeks private sector assistance for its
development activities.
“President Mahinda Rajapaksa brought peace to the country by
defeating terrorism, as he saw the conflict from a different angle. It
is the same stance being adopted with the development challenge,” the
Minister said.
Minister Weerawansa also said some people in the Opposition have no
idea about how the country should face the development challenge.
Construction work of the Siyane Nature Park Housing Project under
“Jana Sevana” one million housing development programme was launched
recently under the patronage of Ministers Basil Rajapaksa and Wimal
Weerawansa.
The housing project which costs Rs. 180 million and consists of 40
houses will be completed within a year. Deputy Ministers Lasantha
Alagiyawanna and Pandu Bandaranayake also participated in the occasion. |
