Amana Takaful, providing a redefinition in insurance in the island,
teamed-up with the Akmeemana Pradeshiya Sabha to stage the Akmeemana
“Soorya Mangalya” in Galle. The event was organised by the Akmeemana
Pradeshiya Sabha under the auspices of the Galle District, Member of
Parliament, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana. Several community leaders and members
of the company’s senior management participated in the event.
Immediately after the Sinhala and Hindu New Year the event was held
in Bataduwa Rathana Jothi School.
The day was filled with fun and frolic as residents of the area and
from afar eagerly took part in the traditional games linked to the
celebration of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. Some of the highlights or
popular events included the bicycle races, tug of war, Kotta pora and
Gama-haraha diweema (Cross country race) and the conquering of the
