Etisalat ‘Principal Sponsorship’ brings success for SSC

SSC recently secured the Premier League Title after five years, adding to already having won the League Championship just after their marriage with a leading telecommunication company Etisalat Sri Lanka as SSCs Principal Sponsors for a three-year term.

The title was secured through a victory of six wickets against Moors SC. The team is currently on one defeated in the 10 matches they have played in the league, having won eight by big margins.

Currently, SSC has been fairing tremendously well in the ongoing Premier League tournament, having established a new record in domestic cricket two weeks ago when they scored 887 for eight against Tamil Union, the highest team total in first-class cricket in Sri Lanka.

SSC skipper Thilina Kandamby also established a new record for scoring the highest individual score of 340 beating Kusal Janith Perera’s record of 336.

The MOU gives emphasis to the growing partnership between the two leaders in their respective fields.

Under this partnership the telecom giant and leading industry innovatory Etisalat Lanka will offer SSC members added mobile service benefit ranging from special offers and package subsidies to innovative value added services.

Speaking on the extension of this partnership, Etisalat Sri Lanka Director/CEO Dumindra Ratnayaka stated, “This is a historic agreement for Etisalat Sri Lanka as it is the first time that we have sponsored both the cricket team and the club at the SSC. We are proud that the SSC, an outstanding institution with over 110 years of glorious history, has chosen to partner with us for this three-year period.

We are proud to partner with the team that has recorded historic scores in domestic cricket.”

He added that with this latest achievement, SSC’s position as the premier sports club in Sri Lanka will be further reinforced.

Giving his views on this new development, the President of SSC, Tomy Ellawala, stated, “We are thankful to Etisalat Lanka for coming forward to support us.

They have been working closely with us over the past few years and I look forward to the next three years of our partnership.” He added that the tie-up will greatly benefit in further improving the infrastructure and facilities available at the Club.

Samantha Dodanwela, Chairman - SSC Cricket expressing his views said, “It is indeed a privilege for the SSC to be sponsored by Etisalat. Their coming forward to sponsor SSC would definitely help us to support young cricketers financially by way of providing contracts/incentives and will also enable us to secure new talent. We hope that this partnership will go from strength to strength and Etisalat’s support to SCC will lead to many more championship victories.”
