Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa invited the people, who make
baseless allegations against Sri Lanka, to visit the country and see the
peace the masses were enjoying.
The Defence Secretary said so participating in the opening ceremony
of Thoppigala Heritage Park at Thoppigala yesterday.
Addressing the media, he said the people who tarnish the good image
of the country have to get a clear picture about the achievements of the
country after it was liberated from the three decade terrorism.
"The entire country is experiencing peace dividends after the
eradication of terrorism, which brought devastation to the whole
country. Owing to the peaceful situation achieved after much effort, the
Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim people are living in harmony. Hence, without
destroying the ethnic harmony and the image of the country making
baseless allegations, those engaged in these activities, are duty bound
to assist the people-friendly activities of the country," Secretary
Rajapaksa said.
He said in line with the overall development drive of the country,
the areas subjected to much devastation have been placed on a rapid
development track. The Thoppigala Heritage park complex contains
educational theatres, a conservation heritage centre, an environment
study centre, a souvenir shop and a campsite area among others. A
memorial has also been set up to honour those who died while fighting
for the country. |
