Two bodies found with stab injuries

Habaraduwa Police commenced an investigation into the death of two men who were pronounced dead on admission to Karapitiya Hospital after being found with stab injuries near a temple on Habaraduwa-Dikkumbura road on Wednesday night.

The Police identified the victims as G H Indika and L H Janaka Kumara, both aged 33, of Habaraduwa.

The bodies are lying at the Karapitiya Hospital.

Deadly swim in Menik Ganga

A 30-year-old man drowned in the Menik Ganga while bathing with friends in Mailagama, Kataragama on Wednesday evening. K Krishnadarshan of Eravur was visiting a friend in the area. The body was sent to the Kataragama Hospital morgue for a post-mortem.

Investigations are continuing.

Illicit distillery raided

Wennappuwa Police raided an illicit distillery in Gin Oya, Sandathriya and nabbed four suspects along with 250 bottles of illicit liquor, five barrels of goda and other implements.

Man electrocuted

A fisherman was electrocuted when he accidentally stepped on an illegally installed electricity wire at Narawela in Karandeniya on Wednesday night.

Investigations revealed that the electricity wire had been installed to trap animals.

I Somaratne,45, of Dangahawela who was not aware of the trap, had got electrocuted when he trampled it.

Police commenced an investigation to arrest the suspect who installed the electricity trap.
