Investigations into infant's death launched

The Kandana Police has launched investigations into the death of this one and a month old infant Sadith Nimsara Dewmal whose body was found floating in a marshy land at Indiwitiya, Muthurajawela on April 11.

According to a complaint made by Dewmal's mother Imesha Dilrukshi (20), she had gone to a neighbours house about 150 meters away from her home at No. 133/32 in Deepika Village in Indiwitiya on April 10 for an errand after putting the child into sleep in her house. When she returned soon afterwards she found the child missing from home. On April 11 neighbours found the child's body floating in a marshy land behind her house. No arrests have been made so far. The child's funeral was held at the Kapuwatte cemetery on April 14.
