Lasantha at helm of TTASL for third term
Deputy Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing
Construction and Common Amenities Lasantha Alagiyawanna was elected
uncontested as the President of the Table Tennis Association of Sri
Lanka (TTASL) for a Third term at the Annual General Meeting held on
March 31 at the Sports Ministry Auditorium Torrington Colombo for the
period of 2013/2015.

At the AGM the President Alagiyawanna said that his intention is to
engage all school children with table tennis throughout Sri Lanka
including the North and the East. The TTASL has planned to train
Teachers (PTIs) island wide with the assistance of Sports and Education
Ministries.
Further he said that the Government had already allocated a Land at
Battaramulla to build an indoor stadium and hostel facilities for the TT
players.
With the government's new decision to involve every school child at
least in one sport Alagiyawanna wishes more children will involve in
playing TT.
He requested from all the elected officials to work hard this year to
promote and develop TT in Sri Lanka.
Elected General Secretary Saman Rathnayaka, who is the Deputy
Election Commissioner speaking to the Associations / Clubs
representatives sought support to further develop TT in Sri Lanka.
