'Govt fully backs foreign investments'

The government is keen on providing its fullest cooperation for foreign investments flowing to the country in the prevailing peaceful atmosphere, said Investment Promotion Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena in Parliament yesterday.

Making a ministerial statement, he said there is no more attempts to shift the Crystal Martin Garments (Pvt) Ltd to another country.

Dismissing recent claims by UNP MP Hareen Feranando, the minister said the Crystal Martin (Pvt) Ltd operates three factories providing employment for about 3,000 workers. He said it is to open another two factories in the country.

The minister said the employees in these factories have been inconvenienced by the false information by Hareen MP that those factories are to be closed down.

The minister reassured the job security of the employees.
