Development projects in full swing - Dullas

Development projects have reached all corners of the country under the Mahinda Chinthana future vision, Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said.

He was speaking as the chief invitee at the annual prize distribution ceremony of Urubokka National School at Urubokka.

Minister Alahapperuma said a novel awakening in the country's national development process has been brought about by the present administration.

A complete change is also taking place in the sphere of education for the welfare and well being of the younger younger generation, he said.

Alahapperuma said for the first time in the history of Sri Lanka, 'technology' has been added to the school curriculum.

"Shortcomings in the country's education system also led to unemployment in the island. Plenty of job avenues are available, both locally and internationally, for those with industrial and vocational training," he said.

Students of Urubokka National School are on par with urban schools, Minister Alahapperuma said.

He also thanked students who addressed the audience in English. Investment Promotion Minister LaksmanYapa Abeywardana said he could initiate massive infrastructural development programmes in the Hakmana electoral division under the present administration with the blessings of the President.

Work on Mulatiyana, Deiyandara and Urubokka towns are successfully progressing. Hakmana town has already been developed, he said.

"Out of all seven electoral divisions in the Matara district, the largest financial allocations has been set apart for Hakmana electoral division by the government," Minister Abeywardana said.
