Traditional Medical Research Institute to be set up in Mihinthale

Indigenous Deputy Minister Pandu Bandaranayaka unveiling the name board at site for the proposed Traditional Medical Research Institute in Mihinthale.

Under the concept of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Indigenous Medicine Ministry has taken measures to build a Traditional Medical Research Institute in Mihinthale.

The foundation stone laying ceremony for the Traditional Medical Research Institute was held under the patronage of Deputy Indigenous Medicine Minister Pandu Bandaranayake recently.

The government has allocated Rs 300 million for the construction of the first step of the Traditional Medical Research Institute in Mihinthale.

The State Engineering Corporation will carry out construction work of the proposed institute.

Indigenous Medicine Ministry Secretary Lalith Kannangara, Additional Secretary Malkanthi Ekanayake, Additional Secretary P. Dayarathna, Ayurveda Commissioner Palitha Weerakoon and Community Health Services officers in Mihinthale also participated in this event.
