Namal turns 27, Special ceremonies in K’nochchi
Thaarunyayata Hetak will celebrate Hambantota District MP and
Attorney-at-law Namal Rajapaksa’s birthday today with special religious
ceremonies and meritorious deeds to invoke blessings on him.
Thaarunyayata Hetak has organised a Bodhi Pooja at Kilinochchi Lumbini
Vihara and a Hindu religious ceremony at the Kilinochchi Hindu Kovil to
mark the occasion. The organization has arranged to provide meals to
children at the Maha Deva Orphanage in the area.
Namal Rajapaksa was born on April 10, 1986. He was elected to
Parliament at the 2010 General Elections when he was just 24. His
father, President Mahinda Rajapaksa entered Parliament from Beliatta at
the same age on June 14, 1970.
As a young MP, Namal Rajapaksa played a key role in promoting
development activities in the Northern Province with his organizing
skills. He took steps to promote welfare services throughout the country
for the the benefit of youth. He played a vital role in establishing the
Blue Brigade that gathered people’s support for his party before the
2010 General Election.
