Mahinda Saranapala was awarded with a special appreciation award for
introducing Japanese productivity concepts, 5S and Kaisen and for the
service rendered to develop the concepts for the past 23 years in Sri
Lanka, by Japan - Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTEKA)
recently.
The present CEO of Kelani Cables PLC, Mahinda Saranapala was
recognized during the 'JASTEKA Productivity Awards 2013.' Saranapala
received a scholarship for a Production Management course in Japan in
1989, while he was working as the Plant Manager at the Nawaloka Group.
He was the only Sri Lankan scholar of a team of 22 from the world.
During his stay in Japan, he studied about 5S and Kaisen and introduced
the concepts to Sri Lanka by organizing seminars and workshops.
Saranapala founded his own company M & S Associates Consultants in
2004 and consulted 60 Sri Lankan organizations and one Tanzanian
company.
His consultancy became very successful and drove 12 organizations to
clinch gold awards at the productivity awards.
Brandix, MAS Holdings, Kelani Cables PLC, ACL Cables PLC, Unilever,
Aqua Packaging Fonterra, Atlas & Sri Lanka Telecom are a few of the
giant companies he had provided his his service.
