Minister Basil Rajapaksa at 5th Fernandopulle
commemoration:
The late Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle raised his voice against the
Tiger terrorists not only in the North and South but also
internationally, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa said.
Minister Rajapaksa made this observation when he participated in the
fifth Jeyaraj Fernandopulle commemoration ceremony held at Kanthi
Playground, Weliweriya where he placed wreaths at the Fernandopulle
memorial on April 6.

Minister Basil Rajapaksa said that the late minister during a visit
to the North had stressed the need for everyone to join in defeating the
LTTE since they were not saviours of the Tamil people but brutal
terrorists.
A number of community service programmes have been organized in the
Katana Electorate during April in remembrance of Minister Fernandopulle
who was also SLFP Treasurer and Chief SLFP Organiser for Katana.
Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle, MP and daughter and son Samurdhi,
Bhanuka and Jeyaraj Fernandopulle Foundation organized the commemoration
ceremony.
Highlights of the commemoration included an alms giving to bhikkus of
the Sri Sumanasara Viharaya, Walana and distribution of houses among
low-income groups in the Katana Electorate on April 6.
