PS member and another suspect released

Kahawatte Pradeshiya Sabha member L H Dharmasiri was released by Pelmadulla magistrate Chandani Niranjala Dias on the submissions made by the Attorney General.

Dharmasiri was among those, who were taken into custody in the Kahawatte Kotekethana murder of a mother and her daughter.

The third suspect, threewheeler driver Sanath Nandana who was on bail was also released on the request of the Attorney General. He was missing for some time. Rasika Chandani has been granted bail earlier by the Ratnapura Magistrate.

Dharmasiri and a few others were remanded after being taken into custody by the CID in connection with the murder of Nayana Nilmini (51) and her daughter Kavindi Chathurangi Selwahewa (18).

They were assassinated on January 31, last year. The CID has forwarded the inquiry report on the murder to the Attorney General for legal advise.
