Treasure hunters arrested

Four suspects, including a 56-year-old woman were arrested by Narammala Police while digging a land in Alahitiyawa for artefacts.

The suspects produced before the Kuliyapitiya magistrate court, were remanded until April 10.

Suspect arrested with loot

A suspect, resident of Padukka, was arrested with six motorcycles and a mobile phone stolen from Talangama, Kochchikade, Marawila and Wennappuwa. The Fort magistrate remanded him until April 5.

Heroin seized in Puttalam

Puttalam Police arrested a 37- year- old suspect with 3.17 grammes of heroin packed in 200 small packets near a church in Puttalam.

He is being questioned by the Police under detention orders from the Puttalam magistrate.

Man dies in earth collapse

A miner who was injured seriously when a rock and earth collapsed on him while working in a mine in Rajawatte, Rakwana died at Ratwana Hospital.

The victim was identified as H Suranga, 35, of Kandegama.

Man with trap gun arrested

Bulathsinhala Police arrested a suspect with three trap guns in his possession at Kethirihena, Delmalla.

He was produced before the Matugama Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Swindlers nabbed

Four suspects who swindled Rs 450,000 from a person in Puntottam, Muttur by selling fake gold pieces weighing 1.400 kilos were arrested by the Police.

The suspects are residents of Eppawala and Anuradhapura.
