Peterites in superb 101 run win over Ananda

Fine half tons by Shasheen Fernando(63), Jason Buultjens(66) and Janitha Liyanage(51) helped St.Peter’s College to beat the formidable Ananda College by 101 runs in their inter-school under 19 limited over pre-quarter final match played at Bambalapitiya.

Taking the first lease of the wicket, St Peter’s piled up a huge 265 in 50 overs with the help of Shasheen Fernando(63), Jason Buultjens(66), Janitha Liyanage(51) and Dushan Hemantha(32).Dushmantha Dissanayake captured two for 64 while Isuru Gunasekara bagged three for 32.

Anandians in reply were all out for 164 in 44 overs. Dhanuka Madushan(47) and Pasindu Isira(45) were the only batsmen to impress for Ananda.Peterite skipper Dushan Hemantha (three for 32), Chemila Obeyesekara (two for 28) and Julian de Zilwa(two for 24) were the wreckers.

St.Peter’s : 265 in 50 overs (Shasheen Fernando 63, Jason Buultjens 66, Janitha Liyanage 51, Dushan Hemantha 32, Dushmantha Dissanayake 2 for 64, Isuru Gunasekra 3 for 32)

Ananda : 164 in 44 overs (Dhanuka Madushan 47, Pasindu Isira 45, Kaveen Dhananjaya 24, Dushan Hemantha 3 for 32, Chemila Obeyesekere 2 for 28, Julian de Zilwa 2 for 24)

Thurstan beaten

A good all round performance by St.John’s College, Nugegoda helped them to claim a stunning five wicket win over Thurstan College in their inter school under 19 limited over cricket match played at Ananda Sastralaya Grounds Kotte.

Deciding to bat first, Thurstanites were all out for 104 in 33.5 overs. Avishka Perera(21) and Raveesha Lokuge(20) were the main scorers for Thurstan College.Yamal Siriwardena was the most impressive among the bowlers with 4 for 25.

In reply, St.John’s scored 105 for the loss of five wickets in 30.4 overs. Lahiru Udara (21), Yamal Siriwardena(20) and Mohammed Shakir(19) were the main contributors.

Thurstan : 104 in 33.5 overs (Avishka Perera 21, Raveesha Lokuge 20, Udara Malwalage 22 n.o., Yamal Siriwardena 4 for 25, Taneesha Weerakoon 2 for 43)

St.John’s : 105 for 5 in 30.4 overs (Lahiru Udara 21,Yamal Siriwardena 20, Mohamed Shakir 19, Ramindu Kumarasinghe 2 for 20)

Richmond win

Richmond College Galle scored a four wicket win over Kingswood College in their inter school under 19 limited over tournament match played at Zahira Grounds yesterday.

After bundling out Kingswood for 99 runs, the lads from Galle knocked off the required runs for the loss of six wickets helped by two good innings by Sithara Gimhan(38) and Hasitha Madushan (21 not out).

Kingswood - 99 in 29.5 overs( I.S.D.Walisundara 33)

Richmond : 101 for 6 in 60.2 overs (Sithara Gimhan 38, Hasitha Madushan 21 n.o., T.H.M.Liyanage 3 for 33, M.V.Lankatilleke 2 for 25)
