Most development programmes under 'One project for one village' over

Almost all development programmes implemented last year under the 'One project for one village' in the Thihagoda Divisional Secretariat Division have been completed, Planning Director M M M Liyanage said.

The development of five backward village schools in the area under the islandwide 5,000 national school improvement project was completed, he said.

Sixteen development projects of the Central Government and 12 projects under the Southern Provincial Council were also successfully completed, Liyanage said. Infrastructure development have been given top priority in these programmes. The total cost of the programme is Rs 36,248,802.

The Economic Development Ministry has funded the programme.

The programme main aim is village development, director (planning) M M M Mallika said.
